Outer Wilds · procedural Nomai script
We use an information-encoding glyph algorithm, so every generated result corresponds uniquely to its input and can be decoded exactly. It supports characters from many languages. Happy exploring!
The original dialect is on. This keeps the first author's numbering, so that scrolls from nomai-writing.com and NomaiText.jl can be read and written here. It supports neither signatures nor reply structure, and its encoding is not a strict one-to-one map, so a drawing has no single reading: translating one lists up to three that fit it. Use Unambiguous for signatures, reply structure, and a scroll that reads back exactly as written.
Spoilers. A few scrolls already etched, straight out of the game. If you have not finished it, they are better met there first.
There's more to explore here. Or someone else's scrollIt has to be the scroll file itself, the .svg that Etch the scroll saves. A screenshot or a photograph will not do: the translator follows the drawing's own lines, and a picture has only pixels in it.
To translate it, etch it. What is on the wall lives only in this page. Etching saves the scroll as a file, and that file is what you hand to somebody else, and what the translator reads.
Etched. Put this file into Read a scroll and the translator will read it back.
PNG is for artwork. Keep the SVG if you want to translate the scroll later.
